Dental implants

A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. Titanium is chosen because it works well with the human body. A periodontist places the implant into the bone of your upper or lower jaw, where it acts as an anchor for the new tooth or teeth. Once the bone grows around the implant, it can support a crown, bridge, or over-denture, much like natural roots hold your teeth in place.

Implants provide additional support where teeth are missing. They offer extra support in areas where teeth are missing, without putting pressure on your remaining natural teeth. This means we do not need to cut or prepare nearby teeth to place a bridge. Implants can replace just one missing tooth or provide a full set for people who have lost many or all of their teeth.
